With Singer Ron Underwood.
I was able to catch up with Ron Underwood, lead vocalist of one of the hottest rising bands in the music scene 9Electric.
Unfortunately the audio failed to record! I was devastated after such a great, funny interview I was excited to get into my post production straight away! Then CARD ERROR! But I can’t let this stop me from documenting the key parts of this entertaining interview!
Ron told me what he felt his role of being in a band is to be sure the fans always get 100% no matter what. If he has had a less than great day the fans will never see it, and they shouldn’t. I was able to catch 9Electric in 2015 when they were touring with L.A. friends Gemini Syndrome. They were a breath of fresh air, with huge guitars, over the top energy, and music loops that hold everything together and make it unique, but in an awesome way. I was riveted to their every move and so was the rest of the club as well.
I asked Ron what he enjoyed more, Large festivals or intimate clubs:
“Actually there is something to love in both settings”, festivals are great for the pure rush. But fans at festivals tend to be “radio fans” and not quite as dedicated as those in smaller clubs. The intimate settings tend to attract more like-minded people which is a great bonding experience.
The album “The Damaged Ones” is 9Electric’s first full length album but definitely not their first recording experience as a matter of fact Wayne Static was able to contribute to their earlier E.P. as well as Heidi from the Butcher Babies.
I asked Ron about the grueling tour schedule for the “Not-so-Silent Night Tour, with shows every single night for nearly a month except for 3 days off. He said we love it that way, this is what we love to do, and have been blessed to be on a tour with Drowning Pool who love to stay just as busy as we do. So, no worries we are doing what we love!
I told Ron we would catch up with then in Wichita on December 1st, which he responded “THE COTILLION!” I love the Cotillion it’s just the right size and that was where I tried to test my boundaries of what I was able to get away with, I went streaking in the nude! And to his surprise nobody, not even security tried to stop him! “They just said well, surely he’ll just wear himself out…and I did”.
Thank you Ron for such a great look into the life of 9Electric. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for you. And thanks for all of the great music.
