Shallow Side is a rock band hailing from Alabama.  Combining the driving rhythms that push the core of pop music with aggressive guitar work, carefully constructed bass passages, and a voice that smashes into focus atop the platform laid down by the music, Shallow Side has crafted a new sound with the same “no holds barred” attitude that has kept rock n roll alive and kicking since its inception.

With 5 members, an EP recorded with Evan Coffman, at Starlight Studios in Orlando, FL, and 2 years of consistent tour experience, averaging 200+ shows a year, Shallow Side continues to push the envelope, providing a viable outlet for anyone looking for the future of hard rock.

We were lucky enough to sit down with Eric at their recent tour stop in Oklahoma City.  I was greeted with arms wide open…literally.  Eric gave me a big hug as soon as we met him, which proves his Southern Charm is in full effect.  It also tells you that he is still grounded and humble, which is awesome in this day and age. It was so refreshing to ask a question and have the band take us on a full out tour of how it all happened in detail, like the snapping turtle incident, and I can’t even walk down the street without ending up in the E.R.  We had cameo appearances from every member of the band as well as even catching Pokemon in the parking lot together.  Just in talking to these guys you can tell they absolutely love what they do, which is a good thing, because they are great at it.  While talking to Eric he said before the band started he wasn’t sure if he had a voice or not.  When you hear his vocals, that is hard to believe.  His vocals are phenomenal!!   The whole band is super tight, and their music will leave a lasting impression on you.  Bands like Shallow Side definitely make our job worth while.  They are the reason we do what we do!!  Please give a listen to our interview with Shallow Side.

Check out the bands website for links to their merch store as well as news and tour dates.  Go to their Facebook page at  Follow these guys and make sure you get to a show if they are anywhere close to you.

State Of Mine set to release “Devil In Disguise” EP on September 15th

If you are a fan of Of Mice & Men, Shaman’s Harvest, I Prevail, Sevendust, or Gemini Syndrome, you absolutely have to check out State of Mine.  It’s not too often we come across a band that we can’t help but gush over.  State of Mine is absolutely one of these bands.  From the minute I hit play on track one “Curtain Call” I was hooked.  They do an amazing cover of Katy Perry’s “Rise” that you have to hear.  “Undertow” is a great, softer, ballad.  “Stones” just grabs your attention from the very beginning.  If you’re not banging your head on that one there is something wrong with you.  The EP ends with a song called “Broke By Monday”, which has a southern rock feel to it and is absolutely the anthem of many people.  It is a super fun and kick ass song.  I could go on and on about this EP, but you are just going to have to check it out for yourself.  In a super tough business it takes something truly special to make it.  I hole-heartedly believe State of Mine has that something special and I can’t wait to see and hear more from these guys.

Hailing from Laingsburg, Michigan, State of Mine is a metal band consisting of Vocalist Steven Jodway, Bassist Corey Smith, Drummer Mike Martin, Rhythm Guitarist Matt Martin, and Lead Guitarist Shawn Willett. Organized in 2010, the band hit the local music scene running, playing as support for multiple national acts such as: Black Label Society, Adelitas Way, Saliva, Powerman 5000, Flaw, Otherwise, Soil, 3 Years Hollow, just to name a few.
In 2014 they released their debut, self-titled EP recorded and produced by BJ Perry at Wall of Sound Studio (I Prevail, UFC, INK MASTER, NFL, NCAA), in Memphis, Michigan. After performing for a year, the band decided to go back in studio with a new sound and direction, specifically targeting radio listeners. The new EP, produced by BJ Perry again, went above and beyond expectations, and will guarantee to keep the listener hooked, with huge vocal harmonies, crunchy guitars, powerful bass, and pounding drums. They look to continue on their path toward touring and performing for a national audience.

Armada Announces August 26 Release Date For New Album Of An Ocean

Orlando metal/rock band Armada announces August 26 release date for new EP Of An Ocean. The Orlando group features former members of notable groups including Modern Day Escape.
Armada, a new super group of musicians from the Orlando area, have formed a band with the mission to take metalcore and hard rock to a new level. The band has written, recorded and prepped their new EP Of An Ocean for an August 26 release date via Apple Music, Spotify and other online retailers. These seasoned musicians with prior successes from the late 2000’s
metal/hardcore scene are ready to take on the music scene again with their new brand of metal. Risen from the ashes of bands like Modern Day Escape & I Woke Up Early For My Funeral, Armada blends influences from their metalcore past with a fresh take on modern metal, rock and hardcore. Vocalist James Vegas’ experience with Modern Day Escape provided him with years of touring experience and the band made records that led to millions of views on Youtube and legions of fans nationwide. The hard work is yet to begin for this quintet, as Armada is fresh blood and are excited to show music fans what the band has in store. In years past, Vegas and the others have toured with Black Veil Brides, Bring Me The Horizon, Fall Out Boy, A Day To Remember, Avenged Sevenfold, Hollywood Undead, Of Mice and Men and have played festivals such as Warped Tour and CMJ. They have also been featured in magazines such as Outburn, Alternative Press, Revolver and many others.
The name Armada was chosen as the band see themselves as a fleet of ships, aligned with their fan base to take the world by storm. Of An Ocean has lyrical topics ranging from corporate greed, personal vices, rebellion, taking chances and always betting on the underdog in life’s tough situations. Armada writes their music for the listeners, and understand that life can be tough, but it doesn’t have to be negative and full of situations that drag people down. “This record is a way for us to use reflections of our past to pave the way for our future, sending a message of strength through real music for real people.” – Jerimiah James / Vocalist
Armada’s first single “Bury The Wolf” premiered this week via Revolver Magazine online. Additional music from Of An Ocean can be heard via the official Armada Soundcloud channel

Breaking Benjamin OKC Tour Stop

Breaking Benjamin recently stopped at The Zoo Ampitheater in Oklahoma City on their tour with Disturbed, Alter Bridge, & Saint Asonia.  Of course being August in Oklahoma you can almost bet it is going to be hot, but Oklahoma is also known for unpredictable weather.  Well, mother nature stuck to her true “August in Oklahoma” form and delivered us a super hot day for this show.  The temperature reached 100 degrees plus that day; however, you would have never been able to tell by the performances the bands delivered that day.

We knew we were in for a treat when Breaking Benjamin took the stage.  We have seen them twice over the last year and a half and we knew they put on an awesome show.  Playing their older and newer hits, they managed to make everyone in the crowd happy.  Their montage of Nirvana and Pantera had the entire crowd cheering.  Then Benjamin had the entire crowd sing Happy Birthday to Drummer Shaun Foist.  He said it was a day late, but it was ok.

Check out for tour dates, merch store, and links to all their social media pages.  Make sure you don’t miss Breaking Benjamin if they are coming to your area.  If you miss this tour, don’t worry…they will be on tour again with Korn beginning towards the end of September.

Trapt Album “DNA” set to release August 19th

Trapt’s new album “DNA” is set to be released on August 19th.

Frontman Chris Taylor Brown commented:

“This album is really about the fans and all the amazing insight I was able to put into the lyrics for ‘DNA‘, by asking them so many deep questions and discussing so many controversial topics through our Facebook page for the year and a half we were writing and recording ‘DNA‘. Just want to say thank you to all the fans for allowing us to get to know you so personally.”

DNA Track Listing:

02. Human (Like The Rest Of Us)
03. It’s Over
04. Tangled Up In You
05. Changing Hands
06. Unforgiven
07. Passenger
08. Anchor
09. Not So Different
10. Castaway
11. Getting Even
12. Fallen Angel

For me it is awesome to listen to this new album and recognize those distinct vocals.  Too many times now-a-days bands are changing members and vocalists so much, you never know who is in a band.  Very good feeling to hit the play button and know right off the bat that this is Trapt.  With this album, Trapt again is showing us that Rock is not dead.  This is a very solid, true rock album from a true rock band.  This is what rock should sound like.  My favorite song on the album probably has to be “Human (Like The Rest Of Us)”.  It is very catchy, and I can definitely see this song being one that will sick with you.

Check out some of the bands new and old music on their You Tube channel at:

Trapt is hitting the road with the Make America Rock Again tour.  This killer line-up consists of Trapt, Saliva, Saving Abel, Alien Ant Farm, Crazytown, 12 Stones, Tantric, and select dates with P.O.D., Drowning Pool, And Puddle of Mud.  This is a two month long tour with several tour stops.  No doubt this tour will be somewhere close to you.  Make sure to check it out.  Go to the website to check for tour dates near you.

3 Parts Dead “Master”

3 Parts Dead

Mike Patton – Vocals/Bass
Mike “Fitz” Fitzback – Lead Guitar
Ramon Miquilena – Drums.

I’ve always had a slight issue with the lead singer of a band playing guitar. I feel one or the other is going to be sacrificed in the process. I believe the guitarist should concentrate only on looking cool while playing riffs that melt my face and the singer shouldn’t be worrying about hitting the breakdown coming up, he should be making his audience say holy shit how does he hit that note?!
I don’t know why, but playing the bass is different for me and ever since Kip Winger proved singers can play bass AND make you say holy shit I’ve been ok with that combination in a band. That all being said, Bassist/vocalist Mike Patton does an awesome job balancing between the two on 3 Parts Dead’s latest EP “Master” which was released Aug. 2nd.
Rising from the ashes of the band Pretty Little Suicide, Mike Patton, Mike Fitz, and Ramon Miquilena have proven to be a non-stop powerhouse, landing on prestigious festivals such as Rocklahoma and Farm Rock. 3PD seems to keep their schedule full and they are not afraid to travel where ever the music takes them.
Their latest venture, “Master” is a solid piece of work from top to bottom, and a real treat for those who are frustrated with the direction a lot of bands are going these days. This is just straight up, crank it up, dirty as it gets Rock n Roll right here!
Track 1: My Mistake
Again groovy and a bit more dirty, and technical than The Mirror. Fitz throws in some killer riffs in the verses of this song that really make this song extremely solid. This is probably my favorite song on the Ep.
Overall, this is a great EP and Pattons vocals are spot on! If you’re into pure, no sampling, raw rock n roll this is a must have for you collection.
Track 2: Summer of Sam
I can see this being a high energy song that will get the crowds jaw to drop and say…I think I’m staying to check these guys out! This song really highlights Ramons skills behind the kit.
Track 3: The mirror
Groovy and slick. Gonna have everyone in the crowd singing this hooky chorus by the end of the song guaranteed!
