Youngstown, OH quintet Alteras has recently inked a deal with Revival Recordings (owned by Shawn Milke of Alesana). The band will make their label debut with the new full-length Grief, out on August 5th. Today, you can watch the music video for the first single “Could Ever Love” at Alternative Press, directed by Michele Dulay of Aspire | Immerse.

Encompassing the emotion of grief in this concept album was enlightening to say in the least,” says vocalist Jacob Clasen. “‘Could Ever Love’ hits some of the most relatable grieving points and is definitely one of our favorites on the record. We’re incredibly humbled and exhilarated to be sharing ‘Grief’ with you all alongside our new record label and family, Revival Recordings!”

Revival is proud to welcome Alteras to our family of artists,” says label founder Shawn Milke. “The band has a conceptual, passionate and creative vision that couples perfectly with the culture and community that we are building. We thank Alteras for inviting us along on their journey.

Grief was recorded and produced by Nick Ingram (For Today, Dayseeker, Jay Z) at Capital House Studios in Columbus, Ohio. Pre-orders are available via MerchNow.

We were lucky enough to be able to do an interview with Alteras.  These guys are definitely a band to keep an eye on.  I watched their You Tube videos and I was very impressed.  I can’t wait to hear the album “Grief” when it drops on August 5th.  Here is their video for Could Ever Love, and check out the interview below.

-First off, congrats on the record deal.  Could you give us a little history on how you all came together as a band?
We’ve actually been together since summer 2009, just not this exact group.  Jordan and Jake are original from day one.  Down the road we picked up Mike, then Zack, and lastly Seth.  The crazy part is that we all went to school together, we just never got together musically until later.
– How would you describe your sound/music to people?
Usually we just say Rock.  We fall into a lot of categories and don’t really commit ourselves to just one genre so we consider Rock to be all encompassing and usually at least gets people to have a listen and decide for themselves.
– Who are some of your musical influences?
Armor Fro Sleep, Maroon 5, Sleeping With Sirens, Pierce the Veil, Bring Me The Horizon, Thursday, August Burns Red, Attack! Attack!, and Asking Alexandria to just name a few.
– Has music always been the direction you wanted to go in life?
Absolutely, every single one of us in this band has always been committed to this goal.  No matter what band we were in previously, this was the end goal.  Hard work got us where we are now and certainly don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.  We’re incredibly thankful that we’ve been offered the opportunity to work with Revival Recordings and can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together.
– If you weren’t in the music industry, what do you think your career path would be?
Well, coming from me, Jake, I’d have to say still working in music.  I’m a videographer, photographer, and graphic designer with Aspire Immerse, so I’m constantly involved with other bands regardless.
– What is your favorite song on the upcoming album and why?
I personally am strongly connected to “Could Ever Love”.  It’s been my favorite of the album since we left the studio.  I’m sure the other guys would say “Broke”, “Everything You Wanted”, or “Scars”.
– I see you have several show dates lined up for the end of this month, will you be adding more dated to promote the release of the album?  If so, can you tell us what areas you will be hitting?
Absolutely we’ll be adding to this, unfortunately, we don’t have a lot of information to share here at the moment.  But know that nowhere is excluded and everywhere in the states is a possibility!  We’d love a West Coast tour and hope to be traveling all over the country come August.

I want to thank Jake, from Alteras for taking the time to answer a few questions for us.  Here is a bio on the band.  Don’t forget to look them up on Facebook and definitely check out their album on August 5th.

Stryper in OKC 6/30/16

Wow!!! That would be the first word that comes to mind after seeing Stryper in Oklahoma City at the Diamond Ballroom on 6/30/16.  It has been a long time since Stryper has been in Oklahoma City.  I heard someone say it has been 25 years, though I am not sure if it has been that long or not.  All I know is that when this show was announced almost 6 months ago, we couldn’t wait for June.

Rumor had it the Michael Sweet was feeling a little under the weather prior to the show.  You would never have been able to tell by the performance he gave.  His vocals were spot on and his energy level on stage was top notch.  There were many “WOW” moments when he hit those high notes.  Robert, Oz, and Tim more than delivered for this show.  Having only seen Stryper 1 time prior to this show, I was very excited to get to see them again.  Now I can’t wait until September to see them again at the Farm Rock 80’s Festival in Tulsa.

While this particular tour may be over and the band is surely enjoying a little bit of down time with their families, they won’t be resting for long.  Very soon they are set to begin their 30th Anniversary “To Hell With The Devil” Tour.  For this tour they will be bringing back their special yellow and black costumes.  It will be worth the time and money to check out that tour.

Please check out their website at www.stryper.com for tour dates, merch store, and all things Stryper.  Go give their Facebook page a like as well.  Michael Sweet likes the new Facebook Live feature and his videos on there were very entertaining.  It was awesome to get a little behind the scenes action from him via Facebook.
